Chairman, British Ukrainian Society
The British Ukrainian Society (BUS) is a not-for-profit organisation which seeks to strengthen the ties between Ukraine and the United Kingdom at all levels by providing a platform for closer contact and cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, business, culture, education and science.
Since its establishment in 2007, the primary focus of the BUS has been to promote Ukraine among the British and international public – a country with a rich historical heritage and vibrant contemporary culture offering business opportunities and tourist attractions, as well as being strategically important.
By promoting closer cultural exchanges, the BUS is laying the foundations for a better understanding of Ukraine and its people among the British public, while improved perceptions of the country also help Ukraine’s businesses foster partnerships with and attract investment from British and international businesses.
The BUS provides a platform for closer cultural exchanges by organising and supporting various cultural events both in Ukraine and the UK, fostering partnerships between British and Ukrainian artists, with a special focus on helping Ukrainian artists gain exposure and recognition in the UK and internationally.
Our activities in the political and economic spheres are focused on supporting reforms in Ukraine by facilitating inter-governmental contact and initiating dialogue and discussions between relevant stakeholders.
The BUS seeks to stimulate business contact and cooperation between the two countries, as well as encouraging improvement of the business climate in Ukraine, and contributing to promoting Ukraine as an attractive investment destination for British and international businesses.
The BUS publishes an English-language magazine called ‘Ukrainian Dialogue’ to promote a wider knowledge about Ukraine and to keep the international public informed about the latest Ukrainian trends and developments.
