Saturday 7 - Friday 27 June 2008: Grygoriy Shyshko exhibition at The Arts Club
The Grygoriy Shyshko exhibition at The Arts Club, London can be viewed from 9am-9pm.
Ukrainian painter’s masterly industrial landscapes form a unique impression of modernity

 The very sound of the name Shyshko evokes a whispered secret, it has a strange familiarity, and a premonitory one at that. Soon the name Shyshko will be chorus. It may even become a movement.

Industrial Mindscapes, a major exhibition of Ukrainian artist Grygoriy Shyshko’s (1923-1994) stunning depictions of his native land, is to be held at Mayfair’s The Arts Club from 7th-27th June and will include a selection of previously unseen paintings from the artist’s family and private collections.
Thursday 15 May 2008: Business Round Table

 The British Ukrainian Society in partnership with Sigma Bleyzer and The EU Ukraine Business Council organised a Round Table on Banking and Finance in Ukraine on Thursday 15 May at the Sigma Bleyzer offices at 4A Basenya Street, Mandarin Plaza 8th Floor, Kyiv 01004. Guest speakers on the panel included:- Mr Yuri Poluneev, the Chairman of the Banking and Finance Committee of the Verkhovna Rada, Mr Stefan Wagstyl Regional Editor of the Financial Times, Mr Edilberto Segura Chief Economist of Sigma Bleyzer and Mr Balazs Horvach Head of the IMF Delegation in Ukraine.

The Round Table was by invitation only.

Wednesday 30 April 2008: Debate on Ukraine at Westminster Hall

 The Chairman of The British Ukrainian Society, Richard Spring MP, secured a debate on Ukraine held at Westminster Hall on Wednesday 30th April at 2:30pm.  The debate lasted 90 minutes and was attended by two members of the Ukrainian Rada, Dr. Yuri Poluneev (Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance and Banking) and Vladyslav Lukianov (Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance and Banking).

Dr. Poluneev and Mr. Lukianov also met with British parliamentarians to discuss the newly formed Verkhovna Rada-Westminster Friendship Group.  The Group is comprised of 102 Ukrainian Parliamentarians from all parties and chaired by Dr. Poluneev.  It will function as a counterpart to the UK Parliament’s All Party Parliamentary Group on Ukraine.

Wednesday 30 April 2008: Presentation by Dr. Edilberto Segura

 Economist Dr. Edilberto Segura gave a presentation on the political and economic situation in Ukraine, entitled: "Ukraine’s Economy Since Independence" on 30th April at 7:00pm in the Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House, House of Commons, London SW1. 

The event was open to members of the public by invitation.

Thursday 24 April 2008: Ukrainian Business Seminar & Reception

Lovells, Sayenko Kharenko and the British Ukrainian Society held a Ukrainian business seminar on Thursday 24 April.

The seminar was particularly relevant to those considering investment in the growing Ukrainian economy, as well as for Ukrainian companies tapping international markets.

This event was open to members of the public by invitation.
Thursday 28 February 2008: Kyiv Debate

 Nicholas Soames MP the grandson of Winston Churchill and Richard Spring Chairman of the British Ukrainian Society were the guest speakers at the Society's meeting on 28th February. The debate was on the theme how British business can help Ukraine to reap best advantage from membership of the WTO.

The meeting was held jointly with the British Business Club of Ukraine and was followed by a networking cocktail.
