Downing Street announced today that the Queen has been graciously pleased to signify Her intention of conferring Peerages of the United Kingdom for Life upon amongst others, Lord Risby.

Lord Risby is a former Conservative MP and Chairman of the British Ukrainian Society.

Mr Leigh Turner has been appointed Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Ukraine in succession to Mr Tim Barrow CMG LVO MBE who has transferred to another Diplomatic Service appointment.

Mr Turner will take up his appointment during June 2008.

Kyiv, January 24, (Interfax-Ukraine)

Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko has met with the leader of Britain's Conservative Party, David Cameron, during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Yuschenko said Ukraine wants to develop cooperation with the United Kingdom, in particular in economic and investment cooperation and trade development, the presidential press service reported.
Trade between Ukraine and the United Kingdom in January-September 2007 was $1.7 billion, which is 30% up on the same period of 2006.
