| | Background The Law Society will be running a trade mission to Ukraine between 26 -28 April 2009 and will provide a two day organised programme focusing on long term opportunities in the Ukrainian market. It will offer firms excellent opportunities for networking and the chance to learn more about how to do business in this emerging market.
Who should go? You should consider joining the mission if you are a law firm wishing to increase your international activity in Ukraine, expand your Ukrainian contacts or if you wish to learn how to operate successfully in this region. Places are limited and payment is non-refundable. Priority is given to members of the Law Society’s International Division.

Mission benefits:
- Market intelligence report: Scoping report on Ukraine including market overview, guide to local law firms and practice rights information.
- Welcome meeting and briefing: Economic, business and political briefing from the British Embassy on arrival together with tips on the local market and business culture.
- High profile meetings and networking opportunities: The British Ambassador to Ukraine will give a high level reception for delegates offering the chance to meet local business and legal contacts of interest. Delegates will also be given introductions to internationally oriented local law firms and time for individual meetings to make contacts and explore future business opportunities.
- Business development seminar: Delegates will be given the opportunity to identify sectors of interest in Ukraine in advance and to suggest topics for a seminar targeted on representatives of key sectors.
- Pre-arranged programme and logistics: trade missions are co-ordinated by the Law Society with local partners to ease the administrative burden of overseas visits such as venue hire, invite lists, interpreters and translation.
Logistics: The Law Society will make a block booking on accommodation for delegates on request. Details of selected accommodation will be sent to confirmed delegates.
Costs: The cost of the trade mission is £400 per person and £200 for every additional person from the same firm. The fee includes administrative costs for facilitating the programme, services of a Law Society staff member to support you with your visit prior to travel and in Ukraine, briefing pack and mission brochure, briefing sessions and other programmed events.
Corporate members of the Law Society’s International Division get 25% off the mission cost and individual members get 10% off. (To join, visit www.lawsociety.org.uk/international ).
Delegates will be responsible for all travel, accommodation and subsistence costs.
We will notify you if your application has been successful and an invoice for payment and instructions for payment will be sent. Once payment is received you will be confirmed on the delegation.
Outline Mission Programme The programme starts on Monday 27th April, we will organise a dinner on Sunday 26th April for mission participants as an optional activity (costs not included in mission fee).
